Qualcomm presents with the Snapdragon 480 5G a new SoC, which should give new inexpensive Smartphones with 5G a favourable price. The first devices will already appear in Q1 2021.
The chip manufacturer Qualcomm has presented a new SoC called Snapdragon 480 5G for use in Smartphones. The new Chip will be produced in the 8nm process and will serve as a low-cost 5G option for Smartphones in the medium and low price range. For users, this results in download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbit/s (5G) or 800 Mbit/s (LTE). And of course WiFi 6 is also part of the Connectivity program. The Snapdragon supports 480 5G Displays up to a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels, photos: up to 64 MP and moving pictures up to 120 Frames per Minute.
Qualcomm promises further improvements compared to its predecessors in the battery performance of the chip, which combines a Qualcomm Kryo 460 CPU with up to 2.0 GHz with a Qualcomm Adreno 619 GPU and a Qualcomm Hexagon 686 Processor. The manufacturer expects the first devices with the Snapdragon 480 5G to be launched in the first quarter of 2021.
