The legal age for alcohol consumption in several countries including India is 21 but we hardly see anyone sticking to these rules and restrictions. Global alcohol consumption used data from 694 studies and then used another 592 studies covering 28 million people to examine the impact of alcohol on the health of people. The results revealed that 32.5 percent of people worldwide drink alcohol. Among women, the proportion of those who drink is 25 per cent, whereas for men it is 39 per cent. Women consume about 0.73 alcoholic beverages per day while it’s 1.7 percent of men. The study defines a standard alcoholic drink as one that contains 10 grams of “pure ethyl alcohol”. The health risk is increasing day by day so it’s high time that we need to act immediately and do the needful to avoid such health risks. The government needs to put their sleeves up and start working to eradicate alcohol consumption so that we can have a disease-free society
