The 2019 Genesis G70 has turned out to be an extremely competitive midsize luxury sedan, having some really strong credentials to its credit. Though it has got a couple of problems, those could easily be undermined on the road or the track. There are a punchy engine, good platform and all the necessary complementary luxury which people have always expected from those who pretend to be on the 3 Series throne.
The car is quite related to the larger versions of G80 and G90 but it is actually quite smaller, sharper as well as quite stretched. The global head of design, Luc Donckerwolke said that the team’s core approach was to maintain a distinction. Donckerwolke, the former designer for Lamborghini, further said that they had the intention to create specific characters for each model as the team firmly believed in the fact that each customer will come up with different characters.
So, for Genesis G70, there is shorter front overhangs, a long wheelbase and followed by much longer overhangs at the back. The car’s cabin has got pushed back along with the side glass. The top has got strong parabolic sidelines which help to put emphasis on the roofline. The grille gets surrounded by whisker-type daylight running lamps and that could well become a feature of all the new models of Genesis cars in future, from now on.
The carmaker takes pride in the fact that the brand new G70 is the lowest car in their segment and one can have the best view from the back. The sides, which are tapered draw people’s attention to the wide track as well.
The inside view gives us the cabin which is detailed and that really fails to give the real impression of the car’s actual price. There is leather joined together with real stitching, legitimate metal trim and having supportive seats. The seat at the back is little tight. No kind of road noise reaches the cabin.
There is 365 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 376 lb-ft. of torque from only 1300 rpm.
