The producer announced that the documentary would not be available on the platform.
During the presentation of Apple TV +, Apple had long put forward its partnership with Oprah Winfrey. The producer at the time announced that she was working on a documentary about the mishaps of Drew Dixon, one of the women who accused Russell Simmons of rape.
To everyone’s surprise, the show’s producer announced this weekend that she was leaving the project and that the documentary would not be released on Apple TV +.
The producer cites a creative dispute as the main reason for this last-minute withdrawal. The film was supposed to land very soon on the platform, but according to her, the montage did not “highlight enough” what the victims of Russel Simmons endured. As a result, the documentary will now make its debut at the Sundance festival in late January.
