According to an official announcement by the company, Sony will be releasing its robot dog — named Aibo — in the United States soon. Of course, this is one of the ways Artificially Intelligent toys are going to get to the day-to-day life. Aibo is an AI-powered robot dog that was launched in Japan last year. Now, after a year, Sony is planning to bring the product to the US customers. It needs to be noted that the company is bringing a new edition of the robot dog to the place. Aibo will be available as a bundled package, which costs $2,899.
The Aibo package consists of many things — both hardware and software. On the software side, it can bring access to Sony AI Cloud Service. This subscription service will act as the link between the Aibo dog and Sony servers. The company says the cloud tech will be helping the AI personality evolve in the course of time. In addition to this, the near-$3000 package consists of a charging dock, some toys and other elements that will make the dog seem more natural. It should be noted that Aibo is a limited-edition product, though the firm hasn’t specified the number of available units.
Aibo was unveiled in the CES event and had attracted much media attention. Once set up, this robot dog will be interacting with you and the AI personality helps the device to stay as tailored as possible. Sony is using a bunch of technologies inside, such as voice recognition and facial recognition. Owners of Aibo will be able to give voice commands for actions. In addition to this, the dog would understand multiple owners using the facial recognition tech. Sony says it will be bringing more features to the dog, thanks to the cloud service. It will be available for pre-order soon.
