After the initial moving backgrounds and implementing AI to correct the brightness of your image, Google Meet is now launching realistic lighting based on the background you’ve chosen. It even seems as if you are actually sitting in that cozy coffee bar.
A few months ago, Google made animated wallpapers available on Google Meet. The platform also introduced a function that automatically neutralizes light from behind your camera. Now Google goes one step further and adjusts the exposure of your face based on the background you chose.
Virtual or reality?
Since nobody likes video backgrounds that can’t track your movements, Google Meet picks out five new immersive images. When you use these backgrounds, it will seem as if you are really absorbed in the environment. You can even see the glow of the light reflecting on your face and hair.
Own time zone and season
With this update, Google wants to provide more diversity in backgrounds, so that you don’t have to look at boring home offices all day. So you can soon choose to virtually take a seat in a nice coffee bar, where you can see the rain tapping on the window. In addition, the image automatically adjusts to your own time zone and season.
As a bonus, you can now also choose light and color filters on your image.
When available?
The wallpapers will roll out to users of the quick release track over the next two weeks, and then be available to standard users within a month.
